GIL & JAS
is a children's clothing collection
created by a brother and sister, Gilbert Chen and Jasmine Sun.
Gilbert has been a menswear designer since his graduation from the
Parsons School of Design, where he won the Golden Thimble Award for
his graduation collection in the children's wear category. In 2011,
Gilbert studied for an MBA in France, where he was impressed by the
elegance of children's clothes and fashion in Europe. Inspired by
the arrival of Jasmine's daughter in 2012 and witnessing the
prosperity of the children's wear market, the brother-sister duo
eventually decided to launch a children's wear brand together in
2013. GIL & JAS offers an upscale collection for boys and girls
with a European influence and sophisticated look. Another concept
for the collection is to create ensembles for Moms who shop for
matching outfits for boys and girls.
THE FOUNDERS
Gilbert Chen studied Fashion Design at the Parsons School of
Design and has worked as a menswear designer for numerous brands,
including Arrow Sportswear, Cole Haan Outerwear, Joseph Abboud
Outerwear, Arnold Palmer Taiwan and Members Only. Gilbert then
earned an MBA in International Luxury Brand Management at the ESSEC
Business School in France. In 2010, he launched his own menswear
collection BARQUE.
Jasmine Sun works as an IT consultant and programmer. She has a
business degree in Management Information Systems from the
University of Texas at Austin. She began working with her brother in
2010 when he launched his menswear collection BARQUE. Jasmine
handles operations, while Gilbert is in charge of design and
production.
